Lise Goossens (°1998) is a freelance illustrator based in Ghent, Belgium. In 2020, she received her master's degree in fine art: illustration at LUCA school of arts. She takes a lot of inspiration from her dreams, and often paints things of which she doesn’t remember exactly what they look like, what results in very naive imagery.
Her illustrations start out as physical paintings on paper, which she then scans and colours digitally. This allows her to get the best painterly textures, as well as the most vibrant colours. She loves making illustrations to support a text as well as making autonomous work.
Although sometimes her printed work can be as big as A2 posters, her originals are always quite small. She loves the intimate feeling of being able to hold a painting in both hands. When a small painting is shown at an exhibition, only one person at a time can really look at it. This makes that moment between viewer and artwork feel very secretive, personal.
Lise is available for commercial illustration work as well as personal commissions. You can also contact her if you are interested in buying one of her originals. Don't hesitate to reach out via email with any other questions you have!
